Privacy policy
Catchline measures a short side-on video of one lift and returns one cue. The analysis runs on your iPhone. This page says exactly what stays on your phone, what our server holds, who touches it and how to delete everything. It describes what the app does today, not what it might do later.
Your account
You can use Catchline without creating an account, or sign in with Apple. Without sign-in, the app creates an anonymous account with a random ID the first time it talks to our server. With Sign in with Apple, we receive whatever Apple shares with us (an Apple user ID, and your name or a relay email address if you choose to share them). We never see your Apple password.
Your profile holds an optional display name, your plan, and a push notification token if you turn notifications on.
What stays on your phone
- Your video. The clip you film or import never leaves your iPhone. It is not uploaded, not copied and not sent anywhere for analysis.
- The analysis. Body positions and bar path as numbers, the measurements behind the cue, the bar path overlay and five still frames per lift are kept in the app's own folder on your phone. Head keypoints are dropped before anything is stored. These files are part of your device backup (iCloud or your computer), which is under your control; a restored phone brings your history back.
- Deleting them. Deleting a lift in the app removes its files; deleting the app removes them all.
What our server holds
- A record per lift. The movement, the date, the load you entered, whether the analysis finished, and which cue it counted towards (or why there was none). No positions, no bar path, no stills, no video.
- Cues and whether they stuck. Text and dates.
- Your consent choices. A log of what you agreed to in the app, with the version and the date.
- A usage count. How many videos you have analysed, so the free allowance and plan caps work.
- Problem reports. If you send one with Report a problem while offline, the text you typed, the app version, update ID, device model and, if you sent it from a lift, that lift's ID. Never the video.
- Purchases. Apple handles payment. RevenueCat tells our server which plan you are on, using your Catchline user ID as the customer ID. We never see your card or your Apple ID balance.
What happens to your video
- A pose-estimation model running on your iPhone measures your joint positions and the bar position frame by frame. Head keypoints are discarded before anything is stored. No face detection or face recognition model is used anywhere.
- Rule tables written for weightlifting and gymnastics, also on your phone, decide which fault matters most and which cue to show. The cue text comes from those rules. Your video, stills and measurements are not sent to any AI language model or to any AI vendor.
- We never use your video, stills, positions or measurements to train AI models or to tune the analysis. The analysis improves from our own test footage and from people who send us a clip on purpose.
- Earlier versions of the app uploaded the clip to our analysis worker. That version is being retired; a clip it received was deleted within 24 hours, and the positions, stills and measurements it kept are moved to your phone and removed from our server the first time this version runs.
Who processes your data
- Supabase hosts our database and authentication. The project is in Singapore. It holds your account, the per-lift records, cues and purchase state described above, never video, positions or stills.
- Apple handles the App Store, in-app purchases and Sign in with Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
- RevenueCat manages subscriptions and tells us which plan is active.
- Intercom runs our in-app support chat (Report a problem and Help & support, when you are online). It receives what you type, any email you give us to reply to, your Catchline user ID (or an anonymous visitor ID), the app version, update ID, device model and plan. It never receives your video, stills, positions or analysis. Intercom stores conversations in the United States.
- Expo delivers push notifications. A notification carries only a title, a short line and the lift ID, never video or stills.
No AI model vendor receives your data. We do not sell data and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep things
- Video, positions, bar path, stills and measurements: on your phone, for as long as you keep them there. We hold none of them.
- Per-lift records and cues: until you delete your account.
- Consent log and usage count: while your account exists.
- Support conversations and problem reports: until you ask us to delete them. Deleting your account does not yet remove Intercom conversations automatically; email us and we delete them within 30 days.
- Purchase events: as long as needed to honour your plan and Apple's refund rules.
Your choices
- Delete everything. In the app, go to You, then Delete account, and type DELETE. This erases your lift records, cues, consent log and the account itself on our server, and the analyses, positions and stills kept on your phone. An active subscription is cancelled separately in your App Store settings.
- Export your data. You, then What is stored, then Export all my data.
- Notifications. Turn them off in iOS Settings at any time.
- Questions or requests about your data: email us at the address below.
Children
Catchline is not for anyone under 13, and the consent screen asks you to confirm you are over 16. The App Store rating is 4+ because the app shows nothing unsuitable, but we do not knowingly create accounts for children. If you believe a child has used Catchline, email us and we will delete the account.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change affects what happens to your clip, the app asks for your consent again before the next analysis.
